YOGA KONGA collaborated with the people from the Volta Project.

A village of fishermen and women turned into batik designers from Woadze Tastoe in Ghana.

The people from Woadze Tastoe earned their living through fishing and farming. But this way of living wasn’t sufficient anymore.

In 2016 in a newly built workshop the fisher wo*men learned the craft of batiking and became textile designers. Their new business provides them with another opportunity to express their creativity and a further stream of income, while keeping up their values and traditions at the same time.

The Adinkra Head Wrap design comes straight from the batik artists and reflects their own views on spirituality and Adinkras.
